Meet Cassidy

Cassidy.JPG

This is Cassidy, a Patriot in Troop WA0317. She is in her third year of AHG!

Here are some of her favorite things:

Favorite AHG Badge: Cinematography

Favorite AHG event: Pipa Sleepover. We stayed up until 2 in the morning talking about random stuff, and "slept in" until 8 the next morning trying to remember what we said.

Favorite color: Pink, Green, and Brown

Favorite song: Like a Match (Toby Mac)

Favorite book:  When Calls the Heart (Janette Oke)

Favorite Bible verse: Psalm 41:1. "You, Lord God, bless everyone who cares for the poor, and you rescue those people in times of trouble."

Favorite AHG memory: Lodge Camp 2015. It was focused on Photography, but my focus was to get one of our Explorers out of her shell. And guess what! It worked!

Favorite sport: Tennis. It's fast paced, and fun, and I only get to play it when I'm on vacation.

Hobbies: Scrap-booking, Sewing, Singing (for fun), and shepherding younger girls and my two sheep.

My pets: Two sheep, a dog, two cats, and a one legged chicken.

Person I admire most: Other than Jesus... There are a couple, and they are my parents. They were the ones who taught me to love God.

In Cassidy's words:

I love AHG because...

God entrusted me with six awesome, amazing girls to lead, and to show them they are truly loved by him.

It has given me opportunities to persevere, and to see how much I really trust God.

Without it, I wouldn't have such amazing friends. I also wouldn't have the heart for service that I have today.

My Story:

I am the oldest of six kids (3 boys, 3 girls), and my parents are the troop leaders of American Heritage Girls, and Trail Life USA in my hometown of Duvall, Wa.
I started out as a 14 year old Patriot in one troop, and when we started our own, I was the leader of three Pipas (Pioneers and Patriots).
It was a tough road for the first year, and I didn't have many friends, except for Jesus. But God carried me through it all, and I learned an important lesson about perseverance, and about friendship. Perseverance: Keep on going even when it's hard, it'll bring you closer to God than you have ever been! Friendship: You don't have to have friends that are only around your age. Look to the younger girls in your troop, and show them that both you and God think they're pretty cool!
Now, through everything that has happened, I have six Pipas, who are all mine (And God's of course), and lots more Explorers, and Tenderhearts, and Pathfinders that I really love. I am really looking forward to the new year and everything that it will bring for our troop. I am also very excited to see where God brings the other girls in my unit. I am hoping that he will bring them into a closer relationship with him, but I am also praying that they will learn about the importance of persevering.
Thank you all for reading! Always remember that God never fails you, and he is always there to pick you up in the places that you have fallen. He will never, ever leave you, so don't forget that!
